This was a great book. A fantastic opener for a trilogy with a great premise. There is a ton of action but even more heart. I love these characters even though they pissed me off sometimes (looking at you June). I also really loved that even though these two seem so different, at their core is the same thing: their willingness to do whatever they need to do for their family.
I also really enjoyed both POVs. Sometimes with these types of books that rotate perspectives, you can find yourself skimming one of the character's view just to get to your favorite. And I didn't really find that here, I enjoyed both their sections.
Overall, a fast-paced and surprising novel filled with heart and humor. Plus, so much happened that I didn't see coming. I can't wait to see what's next.
