Review: West of Sunset

West of Sunset

Overall, this was an incredibly sad book to read. Beautifully written, but sad. It is based on the last few years of Fitzgerald's life, a time he spent in Hollywood dealing with his demons and desperately longing for and trying to once again achieve some success. You see the turn in his life through flashbacks, the beginning of the sickness of his wife, the way alcohol and partying controlled everything and stifled his creativity.

If you love Fitzgerald, Hemingway, the early years in Hollywood, or just a gorgeously descriptive book, you'll enjoy this.
